• The dragon’s blood tree only lives on the Arabian island of Soqotra, high in the mountains, where it catches water from the early morning mists.
• The biggest snake ever was 91cm wide, over 13 metres long and ate crocodiles. Fortunately it became extinct more than 50 million years ago.
• The oldest living things on the planet are bristlecone pine trees in California – some of them have been alive for 5,000 years.
• A Kasanka bat colony consumes six million kg of fruit per night. An area the size of Central Park in Kasanka is home to up to 11 million fruit bats.
