• Female ring-tailed lemurs are only receptive to mating for one day each year, sometimes for a window of only six hours.
• There are more than six times the number of nerve fibres between the star-nosed mole’s nose and its brain than there are between your hand and your brain.

• Meerkats have a dark band around their eyes that reduces the sun’s glare – great for spotting predatory birds in the sky.
