Dan Rees was a Producer on Frozen Planet and joined the BBC Natural History Unit in 1997, after starting his career as a conservation biologist. He has produced a number of programmes for the Unit over the past 13 years and revels in the opportunity to travel the world and tell stories. These include major NHU strands, Wildlife on OneNatural World and Autumnwatch. Dan was also responsible for producing the last programme in the epic three-part series, Ganges which explores how the river has shaped the culture, beliefs and wildlife of India. My best recent experience was seeing a blue whale, the largest creature on earth, from a helicoptor in the South Atlantic - awe-inspiring. We had no time to train the camera on it before it dived underwater but sometimes it's the things you don't film that give the best memories.
